BOSTON, Massachusetts – The American Academy of Environmental Engineers and Scientists has named CDM Smith Chairman and CEO Stephen J. Hickox, PE, BCEE as the 2017 recipient of the Gordon Maskew Fair Award. This prestigious award is presented to a Board Certified Environmental Engineer or Scientist of the Academy who is judged to have contributed substantially to the status of the environmental engineering profession by:

  • Exemplary professional conduct.
  • Recognized achievements in the practice of environmental engineering.
  • Significant contribution to the improvement of the quality of the world’s environment.

Mr. Hickox has more than 40 years of experience helping public-sector clients solve the financial, technical and regulatory challenges of complex environment and infrastructure projects. Before advancing to CDM Smith’s executive leadership team, Mr. Hickox was the group president of the firm’s Public Services Group – North America East and Latin America. He holds a B.S. in civil engineering from Merrimack College and an M.S. in civil engineering from Northeastern University.
