Angela Moulton Honored with Environmental Business Council of New England’s Ascending Leader Award
August 28, 2018

Moulton, AngelaBOSTON – CDM Smith is pleased to announce that Angela Moulton was recently named the recipient of the 2018 Environmental Business Council of New England (EBC) Ascending Leader Award winner. Moulton, a project manager based in Massachusetts, received her award at the EBC Annual Summer Garden Party in Boston on August 9, 2018.

The EBC, a nonprofit organization, was the first in the United States to support and foster the development of the environmental industry. The organization’s Ascending Leader Award recognizes young professionals in the energy and environmental sectors who demonstrate exceptional leadership and industry involvement early in their careers. Recipients are leaders within their own organizations, often acting as mentors to junior staff, providing thought leadership on critical issues, and leading teams on large-scale projects. They also represent their organizations through participation in industry associations and committees, supporting the growth of the environmental and energy sectors.

At CDM Smith, Moulton is responsible for successfully delivering multimillion-dollar projects for water distribution systems, drainage and sewer pipelines, hydraulic modeling and regulatory compliance. Moulton leads multidisciplinary design teams to navigate client needs and provide safe drinking water to communities around the United States.

In addition to her project work, Moulton is passionate about promoting teamwork and mentoring junior engineers within CDM Smith. Previously, Moulton served as an official onboarding mentor for new hires and new staff at the firm. She was also nominated by CDM Smith to attend the Genesis Program and the Emerging Leaders Forum—two leadership-building programs offered by American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC)— and is a proud graduate of both.

Outside of CDM Smith, Moulton is an active volunteer in various engineering committees and societies both locally and nationally. Moulton’s involvement includes the New England Water Works Association (NEWWA), the Boston Society of Civil Engineers Section (BSCES) and the Massachusetts Waterworks Association’s Legislative Committee. And as one of the founders of the Women’s Environmental Network (WEN) Young Professionals Committee, Moulton works to provide a motivational forum for young female engineers to discuss career challenges and bridge the gender gap in the Science, Engineering, Technology and Math (STEM) community.

“I’m extremely honored by this award and I am proud of the work I have done to mentor others. I truly enjoy helping young engineers find their way, and I appreciate all the leadership opportunities I have been given. Working at CDM Smith, I have learned from my mentors how important leadership skills are at work and in life, and to always be aware of how you present yourself. Being positive can be contagious,” Moulton says.

The Environmental Business Council of New England (EBC) was established in 1990 by environmental and energy company executives who began meeting on a regular basis to exchange ideas and share experiences. The EBC was the first organization in the United States established to support and foster the development of the environmental industry.  The goal of the EBC is to enhance business and job growth of both established and emerging environmental and energy businesses.

CDM Smith provides lasting and integrated solutions in water, environment, transportation, energy and facilities to public and private clients worldwide.
