First-of-its-kind BRT with elevated platforms and multimodal improvements

Getting around St. Petersburg without a car wasn’t easy for decades. Tampa Bay's first BRT solution now connects top destinations across 10 miles "from Beach to 'Burg" with improvements including station enhancements, safety upgrades and an expediated boarding process.

Artistic stations with local flair

Station architects and local artists captured St. Pete's spirit by integrating local character with materials and technology.

Complete Corridors integration

Integration of bicycles, transit, vehicular traffic, and pedestrian networks helped facilitate safe transportation for all.

Rapid post-launch ridership growth

SunRunner transported over 260,000 passengers in just three months, prompting PSTA to expand the route and add buses.

Under budget, community driven

The project came in $5 million under budget, and PSTA used funds to add a new station as requested by the community.

Connecting Tampa Bay through complete corridors

Tailor-made solutions for St. Pete

The SunRunner proudly represents the first BRT system the Tampa Bay region has ever seen. The SunRunner itself, and the corridor improvements behind it, are big forces driving the revitalization in St. Pete. “We have seen a lot of development all along the SunRunner corridor: new developments, expansions of existing developments—our local businesses are saying that they've seen a lot more foot traffic because of SunRunner,” said Abhishek Dayal, PSTA Project Management Director.
