Using advanced 3D design tools, CDM Smith delivered a chemical handling facility for a Texas semiconductor FAB on a fast‑track schedule.

Our team designed a large‑scale chemical handling and storage facility to support a leading semiconductor fabrication campus. The work included two multi‑story structures integrating advanced chemical systems critical to fab operations. The project was completed on a fast‑track schedule using coordinated 3D modeling and close collaboration across global teams to ensure safety, constructability and precision at scale.

Advanced chemical facility design

The facility was designed to safely store, transfer, and manage specialty chemicals essential to high‑volume semiconductor manufacturing, supporting reliable operations while meeting stringent safety and regulatory requirements.

Fast-track, high-precision delivery

3D drafting and automated model reviews enabled the team to deliver precise designs on an accelerated timeline.

Multi-story, integrated systems

Two three‑story structures integrate multiple chemical systems within a compact footprint, supporting efficient operations while meeting stringent safety and performance requirements.

Global collaboration

Shared digital models and standardized workflows enabled alignment across disciplines and geographies, supporting consistent quality and schedule certainty.

This project showcases technically rigorous, safety‑focused facility design delivered at scale. By combining chemical handling system experience with advanced digital tools, the team created a facility that meets the operational demands of a modern fabrication campus while maintaining precision under schedule pressure.

Design decisions were driven by the need for operational reliability, safe chemical management, and seamless integration with active fab processes. The approach emphasized clear coordination, constructability, and reliability—qualities essential for mission‑critical industrial environments. The result is a flexible, high‑performance chemical facility that demonstrates how thoughtful design and disciplined execution can support complex manufacturing infrastructure.
