CDM Smith is supporting an advanced ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis (UF/RO) treatment system to supply 2 mgd of reclaimed water for data center cooling with design, balance of plant construction, and owner’s advisor support to coordinate with parallel local wastewater treatment plant upgrades. The use of containerized treatment helps accelerate delivery to meet data center needs.
Our team’s design supports a reliable and on-schedule transition from groundwater to reclaimed water while maintaining operational continuity.
UF/RO membrane processes designed to meet stringent cooling water quality requirements with variable reclaimed water supply quality.
The team was fully engaged throughout the entire project lifecycle, from conceptual and final design through construction and commissioning.
Comprehensive water quality sampling and analysis informed treatment design decisions and optimized cooling system performance.
“Our design approach emphasizes reliability, operational flexibility, and water quality assurance, as we advance the treatment facility from early through detailed design, incorporating UF/RO processes tailored to reclaimed source water,” says Greta Zornes, PhD, CDM Smith’s water reuse and industrial treatment practice leader. “We’re integrating owner preferences and the selected containerized treatment equipment provider to design and build a treatment system that will provide a resilient, scalable water supply aligned with the operational needs of mission critical data center infrastructure.”
