Building connections through station design

As Pittsburgh continues to invest in transit infrastructure, Pittsburgh Regional Transit (PRT) is prioritizing projects that deliver immediate benefits for riders and the surrounding communities. Upgrading transit stations has proven to be a cost-effective way to expand access, strengthen connections, and create safe, welcoming spaces for travelers.

Upgraded station accessibility

The project adds pedestrian access, bike parking and designated pickup/drop-off areas for seamless multimodal travel.

Enhanced rider experience

New amenities, including canopy-covered benches and green spaces create a comfortable and welcoming station environment.

Transformed public spaces

Improved visibility and enhanced aesthetics promote sociability and integrate the stations into their community’s urban fabric.

A Complete Corridors mindset

The project not only connected the transit line but enhanced connectivity, promoting universal accessibility and engagement.

Through the Negley Station improvements, CDM Smith supported PRT’s vision to unite the community with modern infrastructure. The project not only ensured compliance with building standards but also created an inviting public space that fosters connection and accessibility.

Negley Station’s improvements set the tone for future station enhancements, supporting the city’s goals for a modern, connected, and community-centered transit system.
