Transforming transportation through innovation

Amman, Jordan is rapidly growing and facing major urban challenges. We partnered with Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) to develop a comprehensive smart city strategy to improve mobility and access for all residents, including women, seniors, and people with disabilities. Using artificial intelligence and big data, the plan enhances multimodal transportation services and supports sustainable urban development.

Smart city roadmap

We created a 10-year roadmap outlining priorities for programs, services and infrastructure to boost the economy and quality of life.

Approach methods

We evaluated Amman’s growth and infrastructure, prioritized 10 smart city investments for piloting, analyzed costs and risks, and shared results in a workshop to guide future development.

Traffic monitoring platform

We assessed their current traffic system, proposed smart solutions, set network requirements, and built a clear roadmap to follow.

Harnessing data innovation for planning

Using AI and big data, the system we built will support data-driven decisions for sustainable infrastructure and improved accessibility.

GAM’s smart city program will help Amman achieve a sustainable infrastructure network and improve accessibility for local underserved populations. "The Smart Amman project is a strong reflection of our work and priorities. We are supporting a transformational infrastructure project overseas in a way that supports American exports and jobs. By introducing our global partners to innovative U.S. technologies, we are also addressing the climate crisis by making the world’s cities greener and more efficient,” said Enoh T. Ebong, U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USDTA) acting director.
