Transforming Puerto Rico into a world-class service provider  

The Puerto Rico Aqueduct and Sewer Authority (PRASA) set a bold goal to become a worldclass utility by achieving regulatory compliance, simplifying systems, improving efficiency, and modernizing technology. With an investment plan of $2.3 billion, Puerto Rico’s program focused on service improvements, infrastructure rehabilitation, and compliance with environmental regulations.   

Expanding program management across regions  

Teams managed over 300 projects, including drinking water and wastewater facilities, pumping stations, and pipelines.

Accelerating automation of facilities  

PRASA’s $100 million program now automates more than 100 facilities, reducing costs and boosting productivity.

Deploying innovative IT solutions 

CDM Smith developed AquaWEB, a GIS-based platform providing real-time data on plants, tanks, pumps, and infrastructure.

Applying integrated project management  

An integrated method optimized execution, combining the strengths of PRASA and CDM Smith to strengthen efficiency.

Through these programs, PRASA modernized its infrastructure, improved compliance, and enhanced service quality. The initiatives not only strengthened environmental sustainability but also improved the quality of life for hundreds of families, while generating local employment and community development.
