Richard Tsang Named 2022 Water Environment Federation Fellow
RALEIGH, N.C. – K. Richard Tsang was recently honored as a Water Environment Federation (WEF) Fellow. This honor recognizes the professional achievement, stature and contributions of its members to the preservation and enhancement of the global water environment in the practice areas served by WEF.
Tsang joined CDM Smith in 1989 as a specialist in biosolids processing and management. Throughout decades of experience, he has developed nationally recognized technical expertise in the wastewater treatment and solids process design fields. Tsang has led design and provided technical review for dozens of major wastewater treatment plants in his home region of the Southeast U.S., and his experience spans internationally in seven other countries.
Tsang joined WEF in the early stages of his career, and throughout his time with the organization he has served on committees, organized seminars, taught at operator schools, and has made numerous presentations at both state-level and national-level conferences.
"CDM Smith has provided ample opportunities for me to grow both internally and externally, contributing to this recognition,” said Tsang.
In addition to his involvement at WEF, Tsang is also an active member of the International Water Association (IWA), where he currently serves as the Chair of the IWA Sludge Management Specialists Group.
Dr. Tsang is very aware of the changing needs of the water sector and our water resource recovery facilities.
“Dr. Tsang is very aware of the changing needs of the water sector and our water resource recovery facilities. I have had the pleasure of working with Richard on various projects,” said Jackie Jarrell, Deputy Director at Charlotte Water. “Most recently, we worked together to bring a resource recovery vision around our biosolids process that will encompass the use of new technology, optimize our biosolids operation, and facilitate future improvements.”
The Water Environment Federation (WEF) is a not-for-profit technical and educational organization of 30,000 individual members and 75 affiliated Member Associations representing water quality professionals around the world.
