Ikwut-Ukwa brings transportation leadership experience across major transit agencies with expertise in major capital project delivery, service development, planning, design, construction management and community engagement. He previously held executive and senior leadership roles with the Sacramento Regional Transit District in California, Valley Metro Regional Public Transportation Authority in Arizona, Atlanta Beltline Inc., and the Metropolitan Atlanta Regional Transit Authority (MARTA) in Georgia. A few major projects that Ikwut-Ukwa led include the Atlanta Beltline in Atlanta, Georgia, the Valley Metro Streetcar in Tempe, Arizona, the South Central Light Rail Extension in Phoenix, Arizona, and the Light Rail Modernization Program in Sacramento, California. He has built strong partnerships with federal, regional, local and community stakeholders to move transportation programs forward.

Ikwut-Ukwa holds a Ph.D. in Transportation Engineering with a minor in Public Policy from Georgia Institute of Technology, along with master’s degrees in civil engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and the University of Oklahoma, and a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Ibadan. He is active in the transportation industry through organizations including APTA, ASCE, COMTO and the Community Streetcar Coalition.
