Announcing Our 2026 STEM Scholarship Recipients!

Congratulations to our 2026 STEM Scholarship recipients, representing the next generation of engineers, researchers and resiliency leaders who are dedicated to tackling some of the world's most pressing water, environmental and infrastructure challenges.

These students are already making an impact across the board through their academic achievements, research, leadership and service, from advancing PFAS treatment research and renewable energy solutions to improving water quality, wastewater systems and sustainable community development

We're proud to support talented students in pursuing their education and transforming their ambitions into meaningful careers that improve communities around the globe.

Growing up in Uganda showed me how access to safe water can shape health, education and livelihoods. I hope to develop practical treatment technologies that strengthen communities around the world.

Gabson Baguma

2026 STEM scholarship recipient

University of Nevada, Las Vegas, Ph.D. candidate in Civil and Environmental Engineering 

The woods and mountains of New Hampshire inspired me to protect the environment. I want to help treatment plants address emerging wastewater challenges, expand water reuse and preserve natural resources.

Caleb Hagner

2026 STEM scholarship recipient

Northeastern University, Environmental and Chemical Engineering 

New England’s mountains, lakes and coastline inspired my commitment to environmental engineering. I hope to study coastal systems and develop nature-based solutions that protect these places for future generations.

Jessica Kamal

2026 STEM scholarship recipient

University of New Hampshire, Environmental Engineering

I’m motivated by the challenge of expanding access to clean water and energy in a changing climate. I hope to advance renewable energy, decarbonization and more equitable development.

Elise Slowinske

University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, Environmental Engineering

Hands-on experience with drinking water projects showed me how engineering can improve everyday life. I’m excited to build a career designing sustainable water and wastewater infrastructure.

George Mason University, Civil Engineering 

Florida’s environmental challenges inspired me to explore the connection between design, data and sustainability. I want to use GIS and urban analytics to advance green infrastructure and equitable development.

Lauren Whittier

University of Florida, GeoDesign and Urban Analytics Graduate student 

My childhood love of science—from making slime to collecting geodes—grew into a passion for solving environmental problems. I hope to use chemical engineering and research to protect water quality.

Alexa Wienhoff

Washington University St. Louis, Chemical Engineering

Learning about PFAS contamination near my Minneapolis home sparked my interest in water quality. My goal is to design innovative treatment solutions that protect public health and respond to community needs.

STEM scholarships

Eight $7,500 schol­ar­ships awarded annually. Come back in March 2027 for our next scholarship cycle.

Eligibility requirements

Applicants must be enrolled in or entering an eligible STEM under­grad­u­ate or graduate program (engineering programs must be ABET-accredited) with a minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or its equivalent).

Selection criteria

Recipients are selected on the basis of academic excellence, technical profes­sional development and commitment to community service and leadership.

Additional consideration

Consid­er­a­tion will be given to individuals from underserved communities who have overcome significant challenges to pursue their education and career goals. 

 

Vocational-Technical scholarships

Two $5,000 schol­ar­ships awarded annually. Come back in March 2027 for our next scholarship cycle.

Eligibility requirements

Applicants must be enrolled in or entering an eligible under­grad­u­ate program in Electrical, Automation, Instru­men­ta­tion and Controls, Cyber­se­cu­rity or related major with a minimum grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale (or its equivalent).

Selection criteria

Recipients are selected on the basis of leadership, community involvement, work experience, career goals, faculty recom­men­da­tions and/or unusual personal/family circum­stances.

Location restrictions

Applicants must reside or attend school in California, Colorado, Florida or Texas.
