Dr. Thomas Franke
With a PhD in chemistry, Thomas Franke heads the environment and energy business division at CDM Smith. As a member of management, his responsibilities include developing the renewable energies business segment as well as supporting key customers, planning and managing complex environmental remediation projects on military and civilian sites, and taking responsibility in the administration, control and management of major projects. One of the focal points of his job is to eliminate deposits releasing toxic gases which can, in turn, contaminate the groundwater. Thomas Franke likes to spend his spare time travelling with his camera and cycling. For 10 years now, he has been working as an honorary judge at the Leipzig Labor Court.
What inspires you? Exciting projects and inspiring teamwork with my colleagues and staff. We make a good team, working in an atmosphere of mutual trust and appreciation.
What does “listen. think. deliver.” mean to you? To me, it mainly means that whoever has a say in the matter should also be prepared to listen.
Why did you become a chemist? Because my father has taught chemistry to me at the kitchen table. His enthusiasm has passed on to me. In addition, the chemical industry is fascinating to me.
What makes your life richer? My family, friends and joint ventures.
The added value for our customers is that we provide everything from a single source.
