CDM Smith, leading partner in the BM SOL-Süd consortium, is supporting the construction start together with the Bernard Gruppe ZT, ZETCON Ingenieure and INP Deutschland as the construction management team.

On 4 October 2023, we heralded the construction start in section D3b near Wörth an der Isar, Germany, with crossings and relocation of the open trench. Construction also began in the northernmost section C1 on 2 November 2023 using HDD drilling at two locations, where the open trench will also be excavated from March 2024. Finally, the official groundbreaking ceremony for SOL TenneT took place in Wörth an der Isar where the future converters will be located on 11 December 2023. 525 kV cables in the DC range will be used for electricity transmission in the SuedOstLink - an innovation in HVDC technology!
