We provide expert consulting, planning, and execution for the remediation of soil and groundwater contamination - efficiently, safely, and fully compliant.
Soil and groundwater contamination poses risks to both the environment and human health. At CDM Smith, we help you mitigate these risks and guide you through every stage of the remediation process – from initial scoping to construction and ongoing site operations. Whether it’s Pump & Treat or in-situ methods like Air Sparging, Enhanced Anaerobic Bioremediation, or Funnel & Gate systems – we identify the right solutions for your site. With decades of hands-on-remediation experience, CDM Smith is your reliable partner for safe, efficient and compliant delivery. Our interdisciplinary teams of engineers, scientists, and project managers work closely with regulatory authorities to ensure smooth permitting and minimise project risks – combining technical excellence with a clear focus on your remediation goals.
Our remediation concepts rely on proven ex-situ and in-situ methods.
Under anaerobic conditions, microorganisms are activated by adding nutrients or electron donors to break down contaminants such as those found in groundwater.
Directs contaminated groundwater through impermeable barriers (funnel) into a permeable, reactive zone (gate) where contaminants are degraded and removed.
Injects air into the subsurface below the groundwater table. The air strips volatile contaminants from the groundwater, transferring them to the soil vapour phase, where they can be extracted and treated.
A groundwater remediation method that pumps contaminated water, treats it effectively, and then safely re-injects or disposes of it.
