October 23, 2017

CHEVY CHASE, Maryland – CDM Smith is proud to announce that Jennifer Osgood, PE, BCEE, has recently been appointed secretary of the International Ultraviolet Association (IUVA), an organization dedicated to advancing the sciences, engineering and applications of ultraviolet technologies for public health and environmental applications. Osgood’s appointment was announced during the IUVA’s 9th biennial World Congress in Dubrovnik, Croatia.

Osgood has been involved in the IUVA for seven years, previously elected to the Association’s Board of Directors in 2013 and, with her new appointment, will serve on the Executive Operating Committee. Over the years, she has served on various committees for the organization: Conference Planning Committee, Education Committee, Nominating Committee and UV as a Green Technology Strategic Initiatives Team. In her new role as secretary of the Executive Operating Committee, Osgood’s responsibilities will include voting on and documenting actions taken by the Committee on behalf of the Association during meetings of the Board.

Over the course of her 18-year career at CDM Smith, Osgood has been involved in various water treatment and UV disinfection projects both in the United States and internationally. She says witnessing the advancements in UV technology for drinking water applications and consulting with regulators, manufacturers and communities as they embrace new technology has been particularly rewarding and effective in enhancing the public’s health.

“The Association has expanded my network within the UV community of researchers, regulators, and other industry experts. I’m excited to be able to provide leadership and continue commitment to the Association in my new role while sharing UV knowledge as we address key environmental, health, and treatment process challenges of the future,” says Osgood.

The IUVA’s mission is to advance the science, engineering and applications of ultraviolet technologies to enhance the quality of human life and to protect the environment. Founded in 1999, it is a 501(c)3 educational association of more than 500 members in 35 countries. IUVA is recognized as the leading knowledge-base and voice for UV technologies through its varied conferences and programs. Visit their website.
