CDM Smith Employees Make Charitable Donations to American Cancer Society, Make-A-Wish Foundation and St. Francis House through Company Wellness Program

BOSTON, Massachusetts – Tim Wall, CDM Smith President and Chief Operating Officer, presented checks for $25,000 to the American Cancer Society and $12,500 each to the Make-A-Wish Foundation and St. Francis House homeless shelter. Representatives from all three organizations attended the check presentation ceremony at the firm’s Boston headquarters on August 7, 2017, marking the second round of charitable donations this year, made possible by employees who participate in the firm’s wellness program. This past spring, donations were made to Engineers Without Borders and Alzheimer's Association, positively impacting people around the globe.
The wellness program tracks and rewards employees, spouses and partners for healthy behaviors and accomplishments, with the overall goal of a healthier, more productive, happy and focused workforce. Employees participate in onsite biometric screenings, team challenges, races and exercise classes, and track behaviors that contribute to their overall well-being. The firm sets a quarterly points goal for participants to strive for and, this quarter, they far exceeded the goal, resulting in charitable donations to these three organizations. Employees appreciate the opportunity to play an active role in the firm’s commitment to social responsibility and health and humanitarian causes, and are encouraged to recommend and vote on charities they would most like to support.
The American Cancer Society is a nationwide, community-based organization dedicated to saving lives and eliminating cancer. Funds go to research, early detection and treatment, supporting patients and spreading the word about prevention, so people can live longer and better lives.
Make-A-Wish started in 1980 as a small charity granting wishes to children fighting for their lives. Make-A-Wish now grants a wish to a child with a life-threatening condition approximately every 34 minutes. A wish come true helps children feel stronger, more energetic and better able to battle their illness.
St. Francis House, founded in 1984, is a day shelter for the homeless in downtown Boston, MA, close to CDM Smith’s headquarters, which provides clothing, meals, shelter, art therapy, counseling and job training to an average of 500 people each day.
