Nick Holway, PE, RCDD
Nick has over a decade of experience as an electrical engineer with the firm, with efforts primarily in the design and engineering of electrical systems for municipal and federal clients with aspects of electrical and mechanical design. He is professionally inspired by “collaborating across the organization, and with our business partners. Large, complex projects often require team members with varying interests to work together towards a common goal. What seems impossible slowly becomes reality as the team understands and values each other's needs.”
Nick's proudest professional accomplishment was completing a solar feasibility study in Lesotho, Africa to interconnect power systems and provide a nearby village with electricity. "This was a wonderful opportunity to do some important work in Africa and an awesome experience. I was fortunate to travel to Lesotho and work with some wonderful people. The memories will last a lifetime," he says.
Africa is not the only international project Nick has lent his efforts to; He was also responsible for electrical construction administration for a large pump station facility in Jordan, involving 900 horsepower vertical turbine pumps and medium voltage power distribution.
“Engineers at CDM Smith develop skills to tackle challenges that fall outside of a traditional discipline or comfort zone. These skills are critical for growth and helpful for problem solving outside office," he says.
