Jenny Strehler
Jenny Strehler, senior project manager, is motivated by her passion for the environment, sustainability, and the energy-water nexus. She finds her professional inspiration through “nature and technology. I am inspired by how we can transform wastewater into drinking water- it gives me hope that bigger problems, like climate change, can be overcome if we put our minds to it,” she says.
She has nearly three decades of experience in planning, designing, executing, and managing complex public infrastructure projects. Her technical area of expertise is in water and wastewater systems, including strategic planning, design management, and leading services through construction- however she has also led a wide range of projects including those buildings and facilities, transportation, renewable energy, parks, and other community facilities.
Her favorite part of her job is “brainstorming and evaluating options to resolve a technical problem in a collaborative manner. I dive right in, research issues, and ask compelling questions. I will speak up to advocate for pragmatic approaches, especially when public dollars are at stake,” she says.
“I appreciate the size of CDM Smith (not too big, not too small) and the private ownership. This promotes open, direct communication with corporate leaders and allows staff to have a more influence on the direction of the company,” she says about her experience with the firm.
The wondrous achievements of nature give me inspiration and hope that smart human minds can in fact find solutions to human-caused problems.
