“I like knowing that my career contributes to clean, safe drinking water and helps ensure more sustainable water supplies,” says Anna Ness, environmental engineer. “I really enjoy working on projects in my local community. We have an amazing team of technical experts who can find a solution to every type of challenge. I enjoy collaborating with our experts and learning as much possible.”
Anna joined CDM Smith in 2017, flexing her technical skills in water, wastewater and water reuse. Her expertise includes designing and operating pilot plant systems for drinking water and advanced reuse. Currently based in Florida, she’s contributed to several projects across the Southeast. “I’ve developed a passion for water reuse and emerging treatment technologies.” Anna has worked on reuse pilot studies for JEA's Water Purification Program and Palm Beach County's Green Cay Phase II project. These studies evaluated ultrafiltration, reverse osmosis, and UV advanced oxidation. She has also operated ozone, ion exchange, and carbon filtration pilots for drinking water treatment and PFAS removal.
Anna is very involved with her local AWWA section and the New Technology Committee within WateReuse Florida, “Being involved with professional societies is one of the most rewarding aspects of my work. I love connecting with others in our industry and sharing new ideas.”
