Strategic Corridor Enhancements
The project improves one of Dubai’s key transportation corridors through roadway widening, upgraded intersections and new grade-separated interchanges designed to enhance traffic circulation and network efficiency.
CDM Smith is providing comprehensive consultancy services for the improvement of Al Mustaqbal Street, a key north-south corridor connecting major destinations including DIFC, Downtown Dubai and Business Bay. The project includes traffic studies, future-year modelling, detailed design and construction supervision for roadway widening, intersection upgrades, and multimodal mobility improvements. The team developed integrated transportation solutions that enhance traffic operations, accessibility, pedestrian safety, and urban connectivity along the corridor.
The project improves one of Dubai’s key transportation corridors through roadway widening, upgraded intersections and new grade-separated interchanges designed to enhance traffic circulation and network efficiency.
CDM Smith conducted traffic analysis and future-year modelling for 2025, 2030 and ultimate-year scenarios to identify operational challenges and support long-term transportation planning objectives.
The design incorporates pedestrian bridges, cycling and e-scooter tracks, footpaths and public realm enhancements to support safer and more accessible multimodal mobility options.
New bridge links and underpasses were designed to strengthen connectivity between Al Mustaqbal Street and surrounding road networks while reducing congestion and improving travel times.
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) appointed CDM Smith to provide consultancy services for the improvement of Al Mustaqbal Street, a major north-south transportation corridor in central Dubai. The corridor serves as an important connection between Sheikh Zayed Road, Zaabeel Palace Street and Financial Center Road, while also supporting access to key urban districts including DIFC, Downtown Dubai and Business Bay. The project is designed to improve traffic operations, enhance accessibility, and support the continued growth and development of the surrounding urban areas.
CDM Smith’s scope includes preliminary studies, traffic analysis, detailed design, tender documentation, and construction supervision services. The team carried out comprehensive traffic assessments, signal timing studies, travel time surveys, and future-year modelling to evaluate existing and projected traffic conditions through 2030 and beyond. Based on the study outcomes, CDM Smith developed detailed engineering solutions that include widening of Al Mustaqbal Street from three to four lanes in each direction, upgrading intersections and delivering new bridge and underpass connections at Trade Center Street. The project also includes pedestrian bridges, cycling and e-scooter tracks, landscaped public realm enhancements, footpaths, and pedestrian crossings to create a safer and better-connected urban environment. Together, these improvements support more efficient traffic movements and enhance multimodal mobility across one of Dubai’s busiest corridors.
