Growth Monitoring Program - Industrial Land Supply
The CDM Smith Strategic Land Use Planning and Economics team in Australia has been awarded the contract to deliver best practice research regarding industrial land supply and take-up within South East Queensland (SEQ) as part of the SEQ Growth Monitoring Program (GMP). The SEQ GMP is a key implementation action of the Shaping SEQ (the SEQ Regional Plan), which key members of the Strategic Planning and Economics team assisted the Queensland Government in formulating.
The GMP’s primary objective is to work with local governments, industry groups and infrastructure agencies to move towards a ‘single point of truth’ for land supply and development activity data in South East Queensland (SEQ) to better inform infrastructure planning and land supply decision making. The project entails identification and estimation of the supply of vacant and developable zoned industrial land throughout SEQ and formulation of a development readiness GIS tool to identify constraints that might prevent development of land for industrial uses or slow the bringing of that land to market. The project also includes detailed industrial land demand analysis and assessment of the factors that might impede take-up.
This project in combination with the Queensland Industrial Land Strategy and Cairns South State Development Area Investigations that CDM Smith has undertaken for the Queensland Government positions us well to benefit from an extensive downstream work program including:
- Regional industrial land supply and demand studies;
- Extension of growth monitoring program work to regional Queensland;
- Assisting the Queensland Government in bringing strategic industrial land to market through direct development of declaration of a State Development Area- CDM Smith services into this area include planning, economics, environment, contaminated land, infrastructure investigation and GIS;
- Business case development for strategic industrial estates-CDM Smith services into this area include planning, economics, environment, contaminated land, infrastructure investigation and GIS
CDM Smith is able to support a broader range of disciplines which could ultimately include transport and freight planning, infrastructure planning, community and stakeholder consultation and urban design.
