Contaminated Land and Remediation Services Enters Next Chapter at CDM Smith in Western Australia
CDM Smith (CDM), a leading environmental consulting company based across Australia, is thrilled to announce the growth of its national Contaminated Land and Remediation Services.
The expansion is driven by the appointment of Ivan Kwan, Principal Environmental Engineer, to lead the Western Australia division of CDM's Contaminated Environment services. Together with Christian Wallis, who leads the national team, their collective knowledge, expertise, and insights will play a crucial role in servicing the needs of national government, industrial, resource and infrastructure clients.
CDM already boasts high-calibre contaminated land experts within its national and global offerings, particularly concerning per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), drawing up on CDM’s global discipline leaders such as Dr Tamzen Macbeth (Remediation) and Dr Ian Ross (PFAS). Expanding our regional offering to include contaminated site assessments, geochemical assessments, health and ecological risk assessments, environmental analytics, remediation design and environmental auditing.
As seasoned professionals, CDM has a strong track record in managing complex environmental projects. Notably, leading the scoping and implementation of site investigations, management, and remediation for numerous high-profile projects in Australia.
The introduction of Ivan within the broader group gives a regional focus to delivering these services throughout Western Australia. Adding to the array of accreditations within CDM Smith, Ivan has the capacity to offer expert opinions and legal support in scenarios ranging from landfill gas encroachment to addressing impacts from contaminants like per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) on groundwater and downgradient sites/properties.
CDM Smith is enthusiastic about this next chapter. Managing Director Stuart Richardson explains, “People form the centre of what CDM offers, and part of this is providing the technical capabilities to drive groundbreaking results. Expanding our contaminated land services is a positive move for the company and really allows us to drive change in the market.” CDM Smith is confident that its expertise in contaminated sites and remediation will significantly contribute to the company’s ongoing commitment to delivering environmentally responsible solutions.
