CDM Smith oversaw construction of major public realm works along Doha’s Corniche, including three pedestrian tunnels, plazas, utilities and surface water systems. We provided design review, site supervision, commercial management, stakeholder coordination and project administration to support Ashghal’s vision for an accessible and vibrant waterfront.
CDM Smith managed design audits, site supervision, commercial oversight and contractor coordination. The team ensured compliance with specifications, resolved design inconsistencies and supported efficient delivery across complex, high-visibility project zones.
The works delivered upgraded promenades, cycling and jogging routes, plazas, pedestrian tunnels and landscape features. These improvements strengthen accessibility, create inviting public spaces, and elevate the overall user experience along Doha’s most iconic waterfront.
The project included extensive surface water drainage, foul water, TSE, potable water, irrigation and electrical networks. We supervised installation of major utility systems, ensuring resilience, long-term performance and flood risk mitigation.
Given the Corniche’s prominence, we led continuous engagement with Ashghal, municipal teams and event authorities. This helped manage design changes, protect safety in live traffic conditions, and accommodate national events without compromising progress.
As part of Qatar’s preparations for the FIFA World Cup 2022 and the broader Central Doha and Corniche Beautification initiative, Ashghal appointed CDM Smith to provide complete construction supervision for Package 4. The project involved reconstructing sections of Corniche Road impacted by three major underpasses and delivering a high-quality public realm through new plazas, pedestrian tunnels, promenades and mobility infrastructure. The scope included a 6.2 km cycling track, 4.1 km jogging path, extensive surface water drainage with attenuation and pumping systems, and installation of major utilities including stormwater, TSE, potable water, irrigation and electrical networks. We oversaw the design review, site supervision, stakeholder engagement, commercial management and project closeout. We ensured safe execution in a busy urban setting, coordinated with multiple agencies, and supported the delivery of a resilient, attractive and accessible waterfront destination for residents and visitors.
