The Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure appointed CDM Smith to lead a full traffic assessment and design program for the upgrade of Emirates Road (E611), covering approximately 2.50 km of the E88 corridor. The project aims to address current congestion issues, improve operational performance and support future traffic growth. We are analyzing existing conditions, conducting traffic counts, assessing levels of service and forecasting demand for horizon years 2029, 2034, 2039 and 2044. Using SIDRA, SYNCHRO and HCS, we have recommended improvements including road widening, interchange upgrades, new links and redesigned intersections. The scope also covers stormwater drainage, lighting, traffic safety, traffic management and interface points with existing alignments. The project is structured into two main contracts to optimize delivery, ensuring the upgrades enhance mobility between Sharjah, Dubai and surrounding regions.
