CDM Smith is developing the concept design for major foul sewer strategic tunnels in Qatar South, including hydraulic modelling, tunnel and shaft design, and geotechnical studies. The team is also preparing comprehensive D&B tender packages and supporting Ashghal during the tendering process to ensure seamless procurement of construction works.
Advanced modelling tools are being used to assess wastewater flows across key catchments in Doha City, Doha West, Qatar South and the Industrial Area. The modelling ensures the tunnels and associated mains are sized for future capacity, operational resilience and long-term performance.
CDM Smith delivers multidisciplinary conceptual design for deep tunnels, shafts and associated structures, incorporating civil, structural and geotechnical requirements. The designs reflect ground conditions, system hydraulics and long-term operational needs.
The scope includes geotechnical desk studies, data validation, topographic and field surveys, and preparation of factual and interpretative reports. Environmental assessments and permitting updates support Ashghal’s regulatory compliance and project readiness.
CDM Smith is producing full D&B tender documents, managing clarifications, and conducting technical evaluations of contractor submissions. Deliverables include contract drawings, specifications, BoQs and final tender evaluation reports for Ashghal’s procurement process.
The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) appointed CDM Smith to deliver concept design and tender preparation services for the Foul Sewer Strategic Tunnels in Qatar South. The project covers tunnels MTS-02 and mains LIS-03, LIS-04, LIS-05 and LIS-06, which will transfer wastewater from major catchments—including Doha City, Doha West and the Industrial Area—to the Wakra STW. CDM Smith is undertaking hydraulic modelling, sewer network analysis, tunnel and shaft design, geotechnical investigations and environmental updates. The team is preparing data gap analyses, design criteria, survey outputs and conceptual design reports. The assignment also includes preparing D&B tender packages, addressing bidder clarifications and conducting technical evaluations, culminating in complete contract documentation for Ashghal. The work supports Qatar’s strategic wastewater expansion and infrastructure resilience objectives.
