CDM Smith delivered full project management services for the Doha North Wastewater Program, spanning design review, tender evaluation, supervision oversight and commissioning. We coordinated civil, mechanical and process activities across four packages including interceptors, pumping stations, advanced treatment plant and TSE reuse systems, ensuring timely delivery, quality control and adherence to Ashghal’s standards.

The project includes a 244,000 m³/day treatment plant with thermal sludge drying and a TSE distribution system for irrigation. We ensured process design, equipment selection, and commissioning met international standards and client expectations.
We applied constructability-focused design solutions, such as specifying durable materials and practical installation requirements, to minimize errors and delays. These innovations ensured high-quality construction and optimized cost efficiency under local market constraints.
By carefully interpreting employer’s requirements and Qatar construction specifications, we minimized compensable claims and reduced variations. Their proactive conflict resolution and clear technical guidance enhanced the client’s confidence and project outcome.
We supported Ashghal in the design, tender and construction of the Doha North Wastewater Program, serving a population exceeding 150,000. The project included 35 km of deep interceptor sewers, a main pumping station, a 244,000 m³/day advanced treatment plant with thermal drying, and a treated effluent reuse system for irrigation. We reviewed design drawings, assisted in tender evaluation and led construction oversight, ensuring quality, safety and timely delivery across all four packages. Lessons learned included applying constructability-focused design, clarifying technical specifications, and managing material limitations in the local market. These measures reduced cost variations, avoided disputes, and maximized client satisfaction while achieving a state-of-the-art wastewater treatment and reuse system for northern Doha.
