Peter Schäfers is a civil engineer and has been a senior consultant in special civil engineering, tunnel, shaft and foundation construction as well as earthworks at CDM Smith for over twenty years. His specialities include site investigation as well as foundation, planning and construction consulting, quality assurance and securing evidence as well as assessments for court. He was involved in the Düsseldorf Wehrhahn underground metro line, the new Leipzig City Tunnel, ground-freezing for crosscuts to the Amsterdam Metro’s Noord-Zuidlijn, remediation in the Schürmann buildings in Bonn, and damage and evidence collection during the Kö 59 project in Düsseldorf.
In your opinion: What makes CDM Smith special? The special thing about CDM Smith are the diverse, interesting and also large projects, which are handled in an interdisciplinary way by a well-rehearsed team.
What does “listen. think. deliver.” mean to you? This is a brief description of our claim: Understanding our customers’ needs by listening carefully and providing a tailored solution after thinking it through to the end.
What inspires you? What motivates me most is completing an intriguing project together with dedicated colleagues to the satisfaction of the customer, and at a reasonable price.
What are your tips for young engineers? Trust in your own abilities.
