USAID Selects CDM Smith for Global A&E Support Through 2028
August 25, 2021

WASHINGTON, D.C.—The United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the U.S. foreign assistance and international development agency providing economic and humanitarian support in more than 100 countries worldwide, has selected CDM Smith as one of 13 awardees of a Global Architect-Engineer Infrastructure Services III (GAE III) indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract. This global contract has a capacity of $800 million with a period of performance from July 15, 2021, to July 14, 2028. In this role, CDM Smith will provide infrastructure services including planning, engineering design, construction supervision and related support, ranging from quick response to short- and long-term services.

CDM Smith has a proven record of delivering sustainable solutions across all our market sectors for USAID in all four prior iterations of this global engineering contract. CDM Smith was the prime contractor for two competitive single-award task order contracts spanning 1992-1995 and 1996-2008, and the first two multiple-award task order contracts commonly referred to as GAE I and GAE II. Under GAE I, CDM Smith completed 13 task orders worth a total of $114.6 million in Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Liberia, Tanzania, El Salvador, Myanmar and Vietnam, and a global task order for health infrastructure knowledge management. Under GAE II, CDM Smith has delivered services for three task orders valued at more than $83 million for work in Nepal, Egypt and Jordan.

We look forward to continuing to partner with USAID to address infrastructure improvements in locations worldwide.

To meet USAID’s development objectives, CDM Smith will merge its exceptional client service and technical excellence with cutting-edge construction, engineering, financial and management solutions such as application of the OneWater modelmixed reality projections via HoloLens and wastewater-based epidemiology (WBE). CDM Smith will support USAID to advance humanitarian assistance through the delivery of assignments across a range of infrastructure sectors, while aligning with USAID’s commitment to maximize the use of small businesses, achieve gender equity and social inclusion, and increase local self-reliance and resilience.

“USAID has relied on CDM Smith’s quality delivery of sustainable infrastructure and reliable, client-centered focus for decades,” said client service leader Laura Iglesias. “On this next iteration of the contract, we look forward to continuing to partner with USAID to address infrastructure improvements in locations worldwide while meaningfully engaging local partners and stakeholders to build engineering capacity.”
