What We Do

Foundations

CDM Smith sets geot­ech­ni­cal standards around the world. Using our experience and knowledge of the interaction between buildings and foundations we develop solutions for shallow, deep and combined foundations. Special foundations with heavy point loads and cyclic or dynamic loads are our specialty. We set ourselves apart by our numerics know-how and innovative tech­nolo­gies, such as combined pile-raft foundations or ground­freez­ing.

How We Work

Heavy Civil Engineering

CDM Smith's core competences include deep construc­tion excavations, shafts, trenches, tunnels, landscape or dam structures – even in highly complicated conditions such as projects close to other buildings or at cont­a­m­i­nated sites. With two- and three-dimensional Finite-Element Method calcu­la­tions regarding soil statics, stability, deformation and loads as well as the lowering of groundwater, we develop concepts and designs for numerous appli­ca­tions.
