Dave MacNevin Wins AWWA Water Resource Sustain­abil­ity Division Best Paper Award

TAMPA, F.L. - CDM Smith is pleased to congrat­u­late Dave MacNevin on receiving the American Water Works Association (AWWA) best paper award, in the water resource sustain­abil­ity division. MacNevin’s article, “Health risks from Protozoa in Potable Reuse: Impli­ca­tions of Florida's Data Set,” extensively examines reclaimed water protozoa data from 292 Florida water reclamation facilities (WRFs) and considers the potential impli­ca­tions for potable reuse. MacNevin will receive his award at AWWA’s 2021 virtual annual conference.

MacNevin was “happily surprised” when his paper was chosen for this award, given that it was his first to be published in an AWWA journal. “AWWA has been really helpful to me in my profes­sional development,” said MacNevin. “I refer to the journal articles in Water Science frequently and keep up with technical content through conferences and papers. AWWA provides such a wealth of knowledge and to be able to contribute to it is a real honor.” 

MacNevin joined CDM Smith in 2019 as a discipline leader for water reuse and advanced treatment and has 16 years of environmental consulting experience in the testing, design and implementation of drinking water and advanced water reuse treatment systems. His involvement in AWWA began in 2003 as a member of his university's AWWA chapter. Since joining, MacNevin has been able to expand his professional network as well as his knowledge of the water industry. He is very active in AWWA’s Florida section and has had the opportunity to participate in several conference panels in recent years.
