Colleen Heath Named NEWWA Younger Member of the Year
September 22, 2016

PROVIDENCE, Rhode Island– CDM Smith is proud to congratulate Colleen Heath, PE, as this year’s recipient of the New England Water Works Association (NEWWA) Younger Member of the Year Award. This award recognizes individuals who have demonstrated outstanding service to NEWWA through active participation in the association’s programs, committees and presentations. Heath accepted her award on Tuesday, September 20, at the NEWWA Annual Conference.

Since completing her undergraduate degree at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 2011 and joining CDM Smith, Heath has served as an engineer on a variety of projects in the New England area. Her work has included developing alternative solutions for reducing lost water, assisting in sizing green infrastructure and working to project future water demands for new business and housing developments.

Heath’s dedication to outreach and community involvement sets her apart from other young engineers. She has been a member of NEWWA for several years and currently serves as chair of the Young Professionals Committee, organizing social and educational events for young members and working to integrate them into the association. Her involvement also includes serving as a NEWWA Ambassador for outreach and participating and organizing an array of NEWWA conferences, meetings and planning sessions.

“Colleen is widely regarded at CDM Smith as an impressive young leader,” says Mary Mancini, CDM Smith principal. “She is highly motivated and dependable. Whether among her peers at NEWWA or local school children interested in STEM, Colleen is a true ambassador for our industry. We are proud of her hard work and accomplishments, and it is fitting to see her lauded by NEWWA.”

"Colleen has established an excellent reputation among her colleagues. This well-deserved award proves that industry recognition does not necessarily require 25 years of service; it can come at all stages in your career,” says Robert Musci, CDM Smith senior project manager.

"Being involved in the NEWWA Young Professionals Committee has allowed me to meet so many different people in the water industry,” says Heath. “It’s given me the chance to be a leader among my peers in preparation to become a leader in my career. Through NEWWA, I’ve found a way to connect those relationships and friendships with the technical skills I develop every day at CDM Smith."
