NASHVILLE, Tennessee—CDM Smith is pleased to announce that client service leader Brandie Cookston, PE, CPESC, CPSWQ, ENV-SP, received the 2017 Young Engineer Award from the American Society of Civil Engineers’ (ASCE) Tennessee Section. Cookston accepted the honor on September 29, 2017, at ASCE’s Tennessee Engineers Conference in Nashville.

Cookston has been involved with ASCE at various levels and positions since 2005. She is a past president of the Tennessee Section and Chattanooga Branch. In 2016, she served as chair of the Tennessee Engineers Conference Committee. Currently, she chairs the Tennessee Section Federal Government Relations Committee and Board of Directors.

“I’m honored to be recognized by my peers in Tennessee,” said Cookston. “The ASCE Tennessee Section has a strong track record advocating for the engineering profession and infra­struc­ture stewardship. Through my involvement, I have grown profes­sion­ally and developed many lifelong friends. Looking forward, I’m excited to continue serving ASCE and contribut­ing to the outstanding growth we are currently expe­ri­enc­ing in Tennessee.”

Cookston has 14 years of experience in civil and environmental engineering and works as a client service leader, supporting our transportation clients in central and southeast Tennessee. In this role, Cookston currently oversees CDM Smith’s team providing program management services to the Nashville Metropolitan Transit Authority for its nMotion transit plan.

In addition to her partic­i­pa­tion in ASCE, Cookston serves as vice president of the Women Trans­porta­tion Seminar’s Tennessee Branch. She is a member of the American Society of Highway Engineers and a board member for the Partnership for Children, Families, and Adults.
