BOSTON—CDM Smith and its employees proudly donated $6,240 to the Appalachian Mountain Club collected through its annual intern T-shirt fundraiser. Each year the firm’s summer interns are challenged to create T-shirt designs that visually represent the company. The winning design is made available for CDM Smith employees to purchase with all profits benefiting a charity chosen by the winner.

Out of this year’s 154 summer interns, architecture intern Audrey Parrill was selected as the winner. Her design was inspired by the firm’s service offerings and features a cityscape that encompasses the four core markets served by CDM Smith: water, energy, transportation and the environment. Audrey chose to donate profits to the Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC), a nonprofit organization dedicated to the protection, enjoyment and understanding of the outdoors. AMC protects mountains, forests, waters and trails in the U.S. Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions through stewardship, scientific research and public policy advocacy.

“Growing up, my family and I would spend a week every summer hiking in the White Mountains in New Hampshire. This contributed to a love of nature that I’ve carried with me into adulthood,” said Parrill. “AMC promotes environmental stewardship and encourages people to get outdoors safely by maintaining trails and providing important resources. I think these things are more important than ever in this digital age.”

At CDM Smith, we are committed to giving back, and to see this next generation entering the workforce embodying that commitment is so inspiring.
